Hey Josh, if you like the Bob Ross books (I gained quite a bit from his program) there is another artist named Helen Van Wyck who has a program called "Welcome to My Studio" another great show... goes into many little tricks with form and shadow, she uses a lot of still life examples and portraits... just wanted to give her a shout out... 
I actually have a "Color Mixing in Action" book of hers. Thanks for the heads up.
